Dr. Tariq Vakani
Dr. Tariq Vakani, MD, FRCP (C)
In 1979, Dr. M. Tariq Vakani received his M.B.B.S from Dow Medical College in Pakistan. He has served the U.K., the U.S.A., and Canada. He has an interest in primary and secondary prevention of heart disease and heart failure, and coronary heart disease management.
Over the years, he’s achieved multiple professional memberships including the Royal College of Physicians in the U.K. and Canada, the General Medical Council in the U.K., the Canadian Cardiovascular Society and, most recently in 2008, the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Vakani’s research background is solid. He has participated in multiple research studies like the Discovery Trial, the SURGE Registry, and the landmark HOPE trial, which attempted to reduce the incidence of cardiovascular events in at-risk patients. Dr. Vakani remains active in his mission to educate family doctors about proper cardiac care, regularly giving presentations on related topics such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, and primary and secondary prevention of heart disease. He’s also spoken at a wide range of events, such as Novartis Pharmaceuticals in the U.S. and Merck Pharmaceuticals in Canada.
Dr. Shruti Tandon
Dr. Shruti Tandon, MD, FRCPC (C)
Dr. Shruti Tandon, MD FRCPC is a Cardiologist with Fellowship expertise and Level 3 training in Echocardiography.
Dr Tandon received her Medical Degree (MD) from the University of Manitoba and completed both her postgraduate residency training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Western University in London, Ontario. During her training she was elected by her peers as the Chief Resident for both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. She went on to further advanced training and completed a Clinical Fellowship in Adult Echocardiography at Mount Sinai Hospital and the University of Toronto. Her training focused on transthoracic, stress and contrast echocardiography as well as transesophageal echocardiography.
Dr. Tandon is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) and board certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology. She also holds active certification with the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Tandon welcomes general and advanced Cardiology referrals and has special interests in primary prevention, valvular heart disease and heart failure.
